Card 27

Safe arrival
We made it to Tassie. We are staying in a secluded cottage. It has no mobile service so I have come into a town to get service and do my post. I have to keep it short and sweet. Will have more details tomorrow. Enjoy tonight's card. Cheers Nicky.

Card 26

Kindness Matters
I love this stamp set and I was absolutely delighted when I found a card similar to this on the web that I could use as inspiration. This card also uses some of my favorite colors. I think it is a pretty card and would love it if someone gave me it.
I am now on school holidays. We head off to Tasmania tomorrow. It has been busy the last couple days getting everything ready. I have got cards ready to post so I will be able to keep you updated with what my family and I get up to. I am going to miss my daily stamping session. I am sure there will be other things to keep me occupied. Cheers Nicky

Card 24

Time Out
Today I was lucky enough to have some time to myself. My girls were at school and I wasn't at work due to the industrial action in NSW schools. It was great because I had time to use pinterest and pin some great cards. I also had time to create some cards. As you are probably aware it is school holidays starting on Saturday. My family and I are travelling to Tasmania. This leaves me with a dilemma. How am I going to make a card a day? I can't really take all my stamping stuff with me. I have decided to make a few extra card over the next few days so I can post them while I am away. I think this is a good solution because I will be able to keep you updated on what we get up to in Tasmania.
So to tonight's card .... A very simple and clean card I found on one of the boards I follow on pinterest. I had to use another stamp set and ribbon. I loved doing the clear heat embossing. I think this card is really effective. It could be used as an engagement or wedding card. Let me know what you think .... Cheers Nicky

Card 23 - A Man Card

Tonight I decided to use the Mojo Monday sketch to do my card. Well actually it was my mum who suggested it. I subscribe to the Mojo Monday blog. Each monday they send out a new sketch for a card layout. It is good for keeping me inspired. I thought I would further challenge myself by making a man card. I am not good at this so I thought it was about time to have another go at it. I think it is quite effective. Let me know what you think. Cheers Nicky.

Card 22

I love the colour Baja Breeze. I have used it for tonight's card. I decided to make a thank you card for my friend Trish. As I have said in a previous post I taught a sourdough bread making course on sunday. Trish was a wonderful help at this course. She knew where all the gear was in the kitchen, how to work the ovens and she washed many dishes. I really appreciated her help so I thought I'd give her this card to say thanks.
Convention 2013
I booked Juliana's and my airfare for the Stampin' Up Convention in Brisbane next year. We got a good deal. Now all we have to do is start the countdown. It is very exciting. Cheers Nicky

Crazy Weekend and Card 21

Well what a crazy weekend it was. I haven't been this busy for ages. Generally my weekends are very quiet with not much on then all of a sudden everything is on at once. That was what it was like this weekend. As you already know it was Molly's 5th birthday on friday and we had the party on friday afternoon. Here is the birthday girl in her new Cinderella costume. Her cousin Nikki curled her hair just for the occasion.
Then party went really well. I made some of the decorations.
If you read last night's post you would know that I didn't make a card on friday night. I managed to post two cards last night. My mum and sister were visiting for the weekend. It also happens to be my sister Christine's birthday today. We took her out to dinner last night. When we got home mum and I did some creating. Mum is also hooked on Stampin' Up. We always have a really enjoyable time making cards together. Whenever I visit her we usually spend every evening making cards. It is good having her around because she encourages me to use different colour combinations. We created the following card together. It features black, cherry cobbler and wild wasabi. We used the stamp set circle circus. We also had a go at heat embossing with cherry cobbler embossing powder.
As well as all the family stuff I also taught two classes for the local Redgum Food Group. I am a keen foodie and I love cooking. On Saturday I taught pasta making and simple cheese making with my friend Rachele. Today I spent five hours teaching ten people how to make sourdough bread. I had a great time teaching both the classes. The bread we made today really was fantastic.
So it really was a crazy weekend and now I have to get ready for work tomorrow. Cheers Nicky

Cards 19 & 20

The last two days have been crazy with birthday celebrations. I didn't manage to make a card or get to my blog last night. Tonight I have got two cards to share. One is a gift card and the other is a card similar to a card I have posted before. I will fill you in on all the details of the party tomorrow night. I am so tired and just want to go to bed. Good Night, Cheers Nicky

Card 18

Well tomorrow is the big day. It is Molly's birthday. It has been a busy past few days with getting everything organised. I think I have got everything done except for the last minute cleaning. My mum Carol and sister Chris are travelling up from Melbourne tomorrow for the birthday celebrations. Tonight's card is just a simple card for Molly for her birthday. She loves cakes and the colour pink that is why I have done this card for her. Moll also likes a bit of bling hence the glitter on the card. I was just trying to make a cute card that she would like.
I have also had a go at making some decorations and a cake topper. I will add photos of these tomorrow night. Hopefully Molly has a wonderful birthday. I can't believe she is five already. It only seems like yesterday that I was in hospital having her.

Card 17 and FOMO

I regularly tease my students telling them that they have FOMO. This is usually after I have told them several times to put their phones away. I also ask them is it really necessary to check their Facebook page every five minutes. I say this as a joke but I seriously think I have caught their disease FOMO. So what is FOMO you ask? It is the fear of missing out. I might give my students a hard time about this, however, I think I might also be suffering from FOMO. I think, well I know, I am addicted to card making. I think I could also have formed an addiction to blogging and sharing my links on Facebook. It has become a habit and I must admit I find myself checking my email, blog and Facebook page more regularly. Despite all this I think it is a good thing. I think it is important to share what we love. You never know I might encourage one of you to become a card maker and then you may even share your creations. You may even become develop FOMO.
Well now to the serious stuff, tonight's card. I was luck enough to have another box of wonderful Stampin' Up supplies arrive today. I ordered more colours of card stock and tonight I have used some of this to create my card. I have used basic black and cherry cobbler. I have also had a go at heat embossing with my new heat tool.I used the stamp set "Nature's Nest" again. The card is very simple. It could be used for a range of purpose and is also suitable for both men and women. So enjoy, Cheers Nicky.

A simple card - card 16

Tonight's card is a very simple card. I decided to use one of my favourite stamp sets "Nature Walk". I absolutely love the bird stamp from this stamp set. I think it is so beautiful and elegant. I didn't want to over do it so I have used natural tones and paper from the "Pocketful of Posies" designer series paper set. I have used the crumb cake seam binding ribbon to put a simple embellishment on the card. All very simple. That is all I have time for tonight. Cheers Nicky.

Inspiration from strange places ... Card 15

Only time for a quick post tonight. I've had a busy day and just spent the last two hours writing reports. I think I'm out of words or otherwise I have sore fingers from typing. The inspiration for card 15 was this tag. It was on a pair of pants I purchased for my daughter at Pumpkin Patch.
I liked the natural warm colours and the shape of the leaves on the tag. This tag inspired me to make this card.
Let me know what you think. Cheers for tonight, Nicky

Card 14

It has been two weeks since I started on my quest to make a card everyday and upload it to my blog. It really has become a habit. Each day I think about what will my design be tonight. I look out for ideas that my help me in my card creation.
Tonight's card really was inspired by a blog that I subscribe to called Stampin' Pretty by Mary Fish. Her designs are very simple and she often has useful little videos. I was inspired by her post about Simply Scored Open End Envelopes. I thought I would have a go at making one of these envelopes using the Summer Smooches DSP. This paper isn't released yet. It was given to us at the Stampin' Up Convention. All the instruction for the envelope are on her blog and it really was easy to do. The size is a little odd, but I imagine you could tweak it bit to make the different sizes you need. So after making the envelope I made a card to match. Once again I used the Bright Blossom stamp set. It is a very basic design, however I think it works. Let me know what you think.
Molly's Birthday Update
Today I made the lolly boxes for Molly's birthday party. I used the Fancy Favour Die to make the box and lid. I thought you may want to see what they look like.Until tomorrow night, Cheers Nicky

Card 13 - Sweet Cherries

Tonight my card features the Sweet Treats stamp set. This stamp set is currently available in the Autumn- Winter Mini Catalogue. I have also used the matching cherry paper. I decided to use my Simply Scored diagonal plate to make another envelope. This envelope also features a belly band.
Today has been a big day. I have been to Bendigo to get a few things for Molly's birthday. I was also lucky enough to go to the Grace Kelly exhibition at the Bendigo Gallery. Her beautiful dresses were on display. It was a lovely exhibition. Then I was fortunate enough to have lunch with my friends from my last school. It was great to catch up with them all. Now I am tired. I still think I have the energy to stamp !! I must go and create. Cheers Nicky

Card 12

Today my new diagonal plate for my simply scored tool arrived. I decided that I must try it out and make an envelope. It was really easy to do because all the instructions came with the diagonal plate. In my box of goodies I also got a new stamp called "Packed for Baby". As I said last night, I thought I'd challenge myself and do something different. So tonight I had a go at colouring a stamped image with the markers and making a belly band for the envelope. This was something that Shelli demonstrated at the Stampin" Up convention. So here is my card for this evening and the matching envelope with belly band. Let me know what you think. Cheers Nicky.

In the clean up ....

A discovery was made today after I spent some time reorganising my stamps. I thought I would mount the stamps I got at convention. When I was rearranging my stamps I found a stamp set that fallen behind all the other stamp sets. It was a moment of joy. I forgot I had this stamp set. Maybe this is telling me I have too many stamp sets. I don't know if it is really possible to have too many stamp sets!!
Anyway back to the stamp set I found. It was Nature's Nest. As I have said in a previous post, when I first saw the Stampin' Up catalogue I was immediately drawn to the nature stamps. The Nature's Nest stamp set really has some lovely stamps in it. Today I have decided to focus on the dragonfly stamp. Once again I have gone for the neutral colours, so maybe tomorrow my challenge is to use a colour I haven't used before.

So goodbye until tomorrow. Cheers Nicky

Birthday Preparations

Next friday it is my daughter Molly's fifth birthday. On a previous post I showed you the invitations I made. These were given out to her friends with great joy. We had lots of positive comments about the invitations. Today I was home with my girls because they have this terrible cold that seems to be getting everyone in Barham. In my spare time, when I wasn't getting drinks of water or more tissues, I started to think about Molly's party. She wanted a dress up card party. Both of my girls love Stampin'Up. They are always keen to join in and make cards. Molly wants to make cards with her friends as activity at her party. Anyway I have come up with a couple of simple cards I think they could make. These cards were inspired by Pinterest. This is an amazing site but I warn you that it is addictive and time wasting. So now back to the cards - here they are -
Card 1
Card 2
So anyway I could have been slack and claimed one of these as my cards for tonight, but alas, I am committed to this a card a day for a year. Now I only have 355 to go. This is the card for tonight. I hope you like it. Remember to spread the news about my blog. Hopefully I can inspire some of you to get into stamping and card making.
Cheers until tomorrow, Nicky

A little weary

Tonight has found me feeling very weary. I have mustered the energy to make a very simple card this evening. It is a sneak peak really of some new paper that will be available in the new catalogue. It was one of the paper packs that we were all given at convention. It goes really well with the Bright Blossoms stamp set that is available in the current mini catalogue from Stampin' Up.
Here is an image of the Bright Blossom stamp set.
Now to the card. Here it is.
I hope you like it. Until tomorrow night, Cheers Nicky.

Update on Disappointed

Just a quick note to show you what Juliana and I ended up making this afternoon. There was a miraculous recovery with the child illness and I great desire to play - both children and adults. So the upshot of this was that Juliana and I got to make a couple of things - Yeah Ha.
So all wasn't lost, just some serious burns to the fingers with the hot glue gun. As you can see I am a bit messy with the hot glue, but not a bad first time effort.
Cheers Nicky
Congratulations to Fiona for adding another member to her little apple family. I always say once you have a mac you won't go back.

Disappointed ....

Well I had today all planned. It was going to be a fabulous day of creating and working with my clever friend Juliana. However things don't always go as planned. Unfortunately sick kids have interrupted our plans. Anyway Juliana and I still got to chat and share ideas thanks to our marvellous forms of technology. It still doesn't replace the face to face experience. All disappointments aside, I have still had a good time creating today's card. My inspiration came from another blog that I subscribe to. The blog is The Paper Players. Each week they send out a challenge. I don't often do their challenges, but today I decided to give it a go. Their challenge was to use the colours basic grey, melon mambo and lucky limeade. Not a combination I would use, but I have enjoyed using it today. So take the time to check out the Paper Players blog link.
So I am hoping I am inspiring some of you to host a workshop or even attend one of my workshops. I plan to host a workshop at my house early next term. I will be sending out invites to everyone soon. If you would like to host your own workshop so you can get some of the great hostess benefits please contact me. There has never been a better time than now because of the WE {HEART} OUR HOSTESSES promotion. There is also the added bonus of the REASONS TO SMILE stamp set that is available free when you spend $125. So go on... come and join the fun.
So come and smile with me and make some projects at my next workshop or your own workshop. I look forward to herring from you. Cheers Nicky

Happiness - Card 7

Thoughts for today
Today I challenged myself to use a paper that I am not that fond of. I like the design but I don't really like the mustard colour. However after playing with the papers and the inks I have decided that the colour combinations work well together. It is easy to go back to the same old colours that you like. Part of my challenge over the next year is to try using colours I wouldn't normally use. The idea for the layout of my card came from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches. I subscribe to this blog and every week I get sent an idea for a new card layout. This just keeps me inspired and it is good to see what others are doing. Click here for the link for the blog Freshly Made Sketches.
Tomorrow's Events
I must admit I am a bit excited about tomorrow. I am going out to do some card making with my friend Juliana. She is my upline for Stampin Up and she is a wonderful inspiration. I have a link to her blog Juliana's Obsessions in my blog list or just click here. I will take photos of what we create tomorrow and load them on tomorrow nights post. Stay warm until then. Cheers Nicky

Fly little bird

I must admit that I have a passion for Geography and followed through with this passion to become a Geography Teacher. Unfortunately this year I am not teaching Geography. It feels like something is missing. I love teaching students about different environments and habitats. Studying endangered species and the consumption of the world's resources is something that really interests me. I suppose this is the inspiration for my card tonight. When I saw the Stampin Up catalogue for the first time last year this bird stamp was the first stamp I wanted to buy. I became hooked straight away and fell in love with all the nature stamps. I must also admit that I do have a love using browns when making cards. I think this may stem from being born in the 1970s. Mission brown was very popular then and my sister and I had chocolate brown furniture in our bedroom. Not also forget the bright orange and yellow floral wall paper. Yellow really isn't a colour I tend to use but perhaps that could be the next challenge. I always think of my sister Jane and yellow. She hates yellow flowers, particularly yellow roses. Maybe my card could feature yellow flowers and I could send it to Jane. After all it is her birthday soon. I hope you like the card for today. Cheers Nicky
Molly's Birthday Invitations
These are the invitations I have done for Molly's 5th Birthday. I thought you may like to see them. I think they are cute. Molly is pretty impressed so I suppose that is all that matters.

Up to Card 5 now !!

Well even though I am tired after a busy working week and the aftermath of the Stampin Up Convention, I have managed to make the next card. It is very simple card. Tonight I decided to use a colour that I don't use very much. It is Rich Razzleberry. I have created a simple wedding card. Let me know what you think. I am really tired to write much more. Good night ..... Nicky

Card 4

It wasn't really that hard to find inspiration for a card today. It was more of a matter of need. My daughter Elly is going to a birthday party for her friend Hollie. They both do dance together so I thought it would be fitting to make a card related to this. The idea for this card came from a blog that I subscribe to. The blog is by another Stampin Up demonstrator. Here is the link Stampin T. I think it is not bad for my first go at this. I am sure Hollie will like it. Now comes the hard part, buying the present!! Now seems like a good time to talk about the Stampin Up promotion for this month. It is called Reason to Smile. If you spend $125 with Stampin Up you get the stamp set for free. So here it is So contact me if you would like to place an order for $125 of Stampin Up products and you will get your own Reason to Smile Stamp set for free. Even better you may be interested in hosting a workshop. The benefits are even better for Workshop Hostesses this month. So come on join in the fun and have a workshop at your place. See the "We Love our Hostess" information below for the great offer. Cheers Nicky

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Last night I was sitting at my iMac working away on my blog when I got a text message from my sister Jane. I looked at my phone to see that she had actually sent this photo of her cat. She the continued to ask me "Do you think my cat is fat?" Not wanting to be rude and hurt her feelings, I replied with, "no he is just poofy". After a laugh about this I told my sister to check out this blog because I had spoken about her in my last post. Any way after some chatter, she suggested that her cat Finnigan (fat cat) could be the inspiration for my next card. This left me pondering what could I do in relation to this. At first I was tempted to make a card with lots of cupcakes in shades of brown. After a look at my stamps I discovered that there was a little cat stamp in the new stamp set I purchased in Momento Mall at the Stampin Up Convention. So I decided to use my postage stamp punch and some coordinating cherry cobbler card stock and designer series paper to create the following card. It is a very simple design. It would be a good card for beginning stampers to make. So now my new dilemma is what am I going to do with these 365 cards when I make them all. Should I start a journal now with all my cards in it ? I'm not really sure what I am going to do, but one thing I know for sure is that sometimes it is hard to part with cards. I get attached to them and this is silly really. After all how many cards do I need? If I asked the question "How many stamps do I need?", of course the answer would be as many as possible. On this note I'd better go. I want to work on my new advent calendar. I should hopefully have some photos soon. I have included some photos of the flower and box that were the make and takes from convention. Cheers Nicky
